Wedding Photography - The Rocks Sydney

My Ratings (9 out of 10)

Wedding Photography - The Rocks Sydney

I am featuring this area of Sydney again as it is endless in terms of opportunities for your Sydney wedding photographer. The bridge stairs are located between Observatory Hill and Cumberland Street Sydney. They are two, large, undercover stairwells that are joined by a long underground tunnel. Photographs for your wedding day taken here will achieve elements of architecture combined with beautiful lighting.

It is a great place if the rain sets in on you and you need cover to work under. There are not many places in Sydney that offer this much cover from the wet weather. A wedding photographer with some experience should be able to spend around an hour here and pull some awesome images.

There is a certain time of the year in April when the sun sets and the rays will beam straight down the tunnel for about 5 minutes. It doesn't happen often but when it does, your photographer will have to be quick.

Wedding Photography - Sydney Harbour

My Ratings (8 out of 10)

Wedding Photography - Sydney Harbour
There are many areas surrounding Sydney for wedding photography. The shots you will see in this post are from the south side of the Harbour bridge and on the west side near the Sebel Hotel. I call it ' the Sebel shoot'.

This can be a great location if you take your time and look for all the little corners and backdrops. A great place for your wedding cars to drop you off is Lower Fort Street. It is a good starting point for your wedding photos because you can easily spend some time with your cars here and have a quick bite to eat and a glass of champagne to celebrate.

Right from the start there are stairs to work with and the lovely Sydney harbour backdrop in your photos.
A little piece of grass to play on if your photographer needs it.
The Dawes Point area where Pier One stands was used primarily for military purposes after Australia’s colonization by the British. A feature of the point was the country’s first observatory built by William Dawes, a soldier who sailed to Australia with the First Fleet. Blending heritage with contemporary chic, Sebel Pier One for photography is a good choice...
There are plenty of stone wall areas along this section of Hickson Rd Sydney. You can play with many of them. The shot above is what I like to call 'around the corner' and works a treat with the right areas.
As far as wedding photography in Sydney is concerned. i like it.

Tarpeian Gardens - Ceremony

My Ratings (8 out of 10)

 Tarpeian Gardens - Ceremony
As far as Sydney garden ceremonies go, you can't go past this little spot. Tucked in right behind Sydney Opera house and raised slightly, overlooking the best harbour in the world. Tarpeian gardens is a quiet spot to have a marriage ceremony and the guests will be in awe of the backdrop that is behind you.
Photography in this spot is much better in the mid to late morning becasue of a west setting sun. What i mean by this is when the sun is setting, it falls right behind the harbour bridge and this can make it very difficult to achieve well exposed shots of the harbour. Imagine your photographer pointing his camera at you during your ceremony but having to deal with the sun, right in his/her face.
My own wedding was here and i chose a 1pm ceremony in daylight savings time which was perfect....
The bride will need to walk a fair distance from the car drop off point (about 100m) but it is a great time for the photographer to capture a great moments of her with dad along the way.
These few shots are from a recent wedding.

Photography around this area can be great when you use the pieces of Sydney harbour which are everywhere. The Harbour bridge, Opera house and the many tree varieties including including eucalypts, cypress pines, kurrajongs, figs and casuarinas. All great for different textures in the use of photography.
