All Saints Anglican Church, North Parramatta

My Ratings ( 6 out of 10 )

Photography at All Saints Church

Probably one of the most used churches in the Parramatta area is All Saints Anglican church on Victoria Rd. With its huge steeple that reaches higher than most in the area it can be seen from quite a distance. I used to live nearby and could see it from my kitchen window every morning and they have bell ringing practice sessions on Wednesdays.
I have covered alot of weddings here and every time i do there are many things that i think could be improved...
It is not the brightest of churches but with good equipment your photographer should be able to eliminate the problem of low light.

One of the biggest problems that used to bring to my clients attention is the use of the staff incorrectly. One of the helpers is a sweet little old lady that is there on nearly every wedding day. She seems to be instructed by the minister/s to direct the bridal party into the main door of the church and down the aisle. The problem as the photographer is i usually like to stand about half way down the aisle to be able to capture the brides entrance with her father and also the bridesmaid as well. Every time i would steer my lens toward the beginning of their walk, i see the "little old lady" in the background, Foretunately the All Saints Minister has eliminated this small problem  for all of us photographers and this shows that All saints Really cares about the many couples that they service. Thank you All saints!

The church does have a nice arch at the main doorway to capture dad and daughter's silhouette. Upstairs access is usually not a problem either.....

The other main problem i have faced is the tree at the front of the church at the end of the day. It casts a large shadow over guests and bridal party when they exit. This can be difficult to deal with on a sunny day with speckled light everywhere. The earleir the better if you have a choice.

Overall i have shot alot better Sydney churches than this one with regards to your wedding photography.

Loxley on Bellbird - Reception

My Ratings (6 out of 10)

Loxley on Bellbird - Kurrajong - Reception
If i were rating this venue on service and quality i would give it 9 stars. But i am rating it on photography. With the beautiful cedar roof it is hard to get a clean bounce of colour when speeches are happening, so lots of cleaning the images if your shooting on Auto White balance... Usually where the guests sit the roof is very low and completely different to the open area. This requires experience when doing any table shots etc...
The best time for all the guests photos and table shots is before it gets to dark. The windows from the reception are big and plentiful so lots of clean light pours into the room before the sun drops away.
Seats about 150 max. so limited for the big weddings. But a stunning view over the lower valleys and all the way to Sydney on a clear night.
Family photos can be done downstairs in fornt of the fireplace which work quite well.
This venue always has the bridal waltz on the outdoor deck, which is a lovely experience for the guests and wedding couple but a nightmare for the photographer to capture any decent ambient photos.... You shoot straight into the inky blackness of night. Off camera lighting is the only way to create some mood here.
Most unexperienced photographers will have a flash effect to the shots which is quite nasty and so this makes the venue a difficult one to capture this first dance moment well.

All in all i love working here and always will. If you are planning a wedding at Loxley, give me a call.

Glenmore Heritage Valley Golf Course

Ceremony    7 STARS
Location      6 STARS
Reception    7 STARS

Westley & Kristy
A Beautiful wedding ceremony taking place at St Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church Penrith. After a picture perfect church gathering we headed for Glenmore Heritage Valley Golf Course for some photographs. Westley has been a Pro golfer for many years and knows this course only too well.
The golf buggys are a great help in getting around the course and because there were a fairly large bridal party we needed several golf carts.
After celebrating together on and around the course for an hour or so, we headed to Mandavilla Function Centre, Horsley Park.
It was a smoke filled entry as the happy couple again greeted guests to share dinner and celebrations.
All in all a great day for everyone.

My ratings for the Location shoot and reception are as follows..

1 to 10 star rating

* St Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church Penrith
****** 6 star - lovely well lit church but visually average in terms of the room decor and structure

* Glenmore Heritage Valley Golf Course
****** 6 star -About an hours worth of shooting at the popluar areas of this course ( Would love to check the entire course out one day)

* Mandavilla Function Centre, Horsley Park.
******* 7 star -Well lit and clean ceilings for good bounce flash. A little small for huge receptions and not too many night locations
